COVID-19: Our Response

The Bethel church has been part of the community in Old Trafford for nearly 100 years, and our building and activities have always been open to our neighbours, friends and particularly to those in need.

So it’s with great sadness that we have to say that we will be suspending all face-to-face activities: including our services, Bible Reading Groups, Playtime, Youth Clubs, and Coffee Morning with immediate effect.  Following current Government guidance we believe this is the right thing to do and the best way for us to continue to be good neighbours to our community.

We are currently exploring different ways to stay in touch with each other, our local community, and with as many people who regularly attend our events, as we can.  This might include the use of technology to allow you to stay in regular contact with The Bethel, and for us to continue to host some of our services and other gatherings.  We recognise that we’ll need to make particular efforts to stay close to those who struggle to access the online world in which some of us participate so easily.  We would still like to be able to open our buildings from time to time to provide a place for prayer; we’ll let you know if and when we believe we can do this safely.

As Christians we believe that God and his Son Jesus, offer real hope and comfort in these strange and unprecedented times, through their presence, their words shared with us through the Bible, and the way in which they inspire us as church to support those around us.

God says to us: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you.”  (Jeremiah 29:13)

Please stay in touch with us through church members you know, by looking out for posters around our buildings, by email info@thebethel.org and on our social media channels.  You can also leave messages including requests for prayer in our post box at the front of the church.
